Tributes Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I understood this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A court order put a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
After the deaths, public individuals expressed different responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive statements that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the detractors last week. Conversing on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they revealed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate ought to have stepped in when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
