Jet Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Due to Fracture in Windshield
An aircraft transporting Pete Hegseth was required to make an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, as stated by an official statement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.
"The aircraft touched down based on standard procedures and everyone onboard, among them Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson stated in a social media post.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the Belgian capital during the flight.
This occurrence does not mark the initial instance that a American defense plane ferrying a senior official has experienced equipment failures.
In a previous incident this year, a American military jet ferrying the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was compelled to head back to Washington DC after experiencing a technical issue.
