American performer Pat Finn, who appeared in iconic television series like "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was involved with a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared online.

Pat Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
